Any student who has been in my classes or been on expedition with me knows my mantra regarding be outdoor - "There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing". However, having not yet been acclimatized to winter in Minnesota this year I was just as happy as the students to find out that we were going to be indoor at the Wildlife Science Center this morning. Instead of our usual focus on wolves, today we learned about herpetology -the study of amphibians and reptiles. We took a look at Minnesota herps, their adaptations, unique characteristics and place within the ecosystem. As usual the highlight was the hands on learning, including proper handling, care and feeding.
