- So, so proud of our Stars!
The hard work and preparation for MAAP STARS began back in late January, with our class focusing on public speaking. Simple introductions while sitting in their chairs were difficult for many students in class that first day. But by the end of 6 weeks, some of these same students were standing in front of 25 of their peers and giving 3-5 minute speeches.
If you were to ask the Students that attended the conference if they liked public speaking, I'm guessing the majority could do without it. The reality is, being able to express one's self is a fundamental life long skill and the experiences our students had at the conference will be ones they take on their life journeys. Whether giving a speech on an issue they were passionate about, presenting advertising campaigns & business plans or problem solving and presenting solutions to Real world work or parenting problems the kids worked hard and not only used many skills they had in their toolboxes, but also learned more skills and things about themselves they can use in their futures!
